Past activities for 1999

March 3, 1999 - Dr. Khin Saw Win, a Director of Burma Watch International who was formerly the physician of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, spoke in New York on "Women and HIV/AIDS" at the UN briefing "Health and Women Under Military Rule in Burma" organized by the Burma UN Service Office.

September 7, 1999 - Burma Watch International organized the "Free Burma 9-9-99" rally on the steps of the Alberta legislature. Speakers at the rally included Edmonton Strathcona MLA Raj Pannu, Edmonton Manning MLA Ed Gibbons, head of the Alberta Federation of Labour Audrey Cormack, president of the Mahatma Gandhi Canadian Foundation for World Peace Prem Kalia, former MLA Jim Gurnett, and Dr. Khin Saw Win, a Director of Burma Watch International.
